Pozivam Vas da prisustvujete predavanju na temu: "Historija islama u Sjedinjenim Američkim Državama" koje će se održati u srijedu, 26. januara 2011. u 14 sati u Američkom kutku Sarajevo (Radićeva 7).
Predavač će biti Ali E. Lejlić, drugi sekretar i politički oficir u Ambasadi SAD u BiH (biografija je u dnu teksta). Ali E.Lejlić će predstaviti historijat islama u SAD, a govoriće i o islamu u Americi danas, prisustvu islama u javnom životu, statusu muslimana u američkom društvu, islamskim i međuvjerskim organizacijama i aktivnostima, te naporima različitih vjerskih grupa u SAD da rade zajedno i unaprijede zajedničko razumijevanje.
Predavanje će se realizirati na bosanskom jeziku.

Biography of Ali E. Lejlic:
Ali E. Lejlic currently serves as Second Secretary and Political Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo. He arrived in early August. Ali was Cultural Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Kuwait City from 2004-2006 where he worked on educational exchanges and cultural outreach. From 2007 t0 2010, Ali served in the Political, Consular and then Economic Sections at the U.S. Embassy in Amman Jordan, where he conducted multiple lectures on the History of Islam in America at the University of Jordan in Amman and at the Hashemite University in Zarqa.
Ali’s current portfolio focuses on State Court and UN-related issues. He earned his BA degree in Public Policy/International Relations at the University of Chicago and attended graduate school in International Relations and Security Studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology near Boston, Massachusetts. Ali is from Chicago, Illinois and is of Bosnian-American heritage. He speaks some Arabic and is fluent in Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian.
