The Director of the Strategic Research Association (STRATIS),
Ambassador Ensar Eminovic, attended the Balkan Think Tanks Convention, held in
Ankara on 10-12 June 2015, along with researchers from 12 different countries, including
representatives of the Republic of Turkey. Mr. Muhamed Jusic, a research
associate of STRATIS, also attended the Convention as a representative of the
Center for Advanced Studies from Sarajevo.

Balkan Think Tanks Convention was organized by the Foundation for Political, Economic
and Social Research (SETA), a leading non-profit research institute in Turkey, with
the support of the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB), affiliated
to the Prime Ministry of Turkey.
The aim of the Convention was to bring together and
facilitate dialogue among political researchers from the Balkans and Turkey and
to offer a venue for the discussion of current political issues. The event
included a two-day workshop on selected topics and one day of meetings with
Turkish public institutions operating in the Balkans. The workshop consisted of
six panels pertaining to current political issues faced by the Balkans and
Turkey.
Ambassador Eminovic participated at the panel “Turkey’s New
Activism in the Western Balkans: Policies, Practices and Reactions”, whereas Mr.
Jusic took part in a panel entitled “Reflection of the Syrian War and ISIL
phenomenon in Turkey and the Balkans”.
During the third day of the Convention the participants
visited the SETA Foundation building and attended briefings by the Ministry of
Foreign Affairs, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), YTB, and
the Yunus Emre Institute. A visit to the new Presidential Palace was also
organized for the participants. Finally, the participants also had an
opportunity to familiarize themselves with the making and implementation of
Turkish foreign policy thanks to a number of meetings and discussions with
senior representatives of Turkish official institutions.
During the Convention, Ambassador Eminovic and Mr. Jusic
held a number of meetings with representatives of different organizations and
institutions and discussed some joint projects that will be implemented in the
future.
